How much is the wine tasting?
• Early Bird Advance Tickets will be $12 until Sunday at 11AM (2 hours before the wine tasting).
• Tickets will be $20 at the door
Can I bring my kids?
Yes. Kids under 21 are welcome and you don’t need a ticket. However, they will not be allowed to consume alcohol.
Do I need to buy a ticket to the wine tasting even if I am not planning to drink?
No. If you want to come and hang out but do not plan on participating in the wine tasting you are welcome to attend. The event will span across both the Hollyhock Lawn, and the Great Lawn. Consumption of alcohol will be restricted to the Hollyhock Lawn; therefore, those partaking in the wine tasting will be asked to setup their picnics on the Hollyhock Lawn only.
Can I bring a picnic?
Yes. Feel free to bring your own food and soft drinks (and blanket). However, no outside alcoholic beverages are permitted.
How long is the Hollyhock House tour?
The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. Tickets can be purchased at the Reception desk of the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery @ Barnsdall.
Where should I park?
There is limited parking at the top of the Barnsdall Art Park, and at the bottom. Overflow parking is available in the Kaiser Parking Lot. You can enter through the public entrance on Sunset, or through the staff entrance on Barnsdall Ave (south of the park, accessible from Vermont Avenue). Tell the staff you are here for the Barnsdall event, then go up the stairs (or use the elevator if it is open) and walk to the west lawn of the Hollyhock House.
Can I bring a dog?
Liability and health regulations prohibit dogs from joining the group on the Hollyhock Lawn (where the wine tasting will occur); However, dogs are welcome on the Great Lawn adjacent to the Hollyhock House.
Is the event handicap accessible?
Yes, there is handicap access, and their is only a single curb to navigate, which has a ramp. Handicap spots typically fill up early, along with the rest of the spots upon the hill, so we recommend that your arrive earlier to get one of those spots. That being said, there is an elevator from our overflow parking lot at Kaiser – even with the elevator though, it’s a longer trip (with more uphill) than simply parking up on the hill. The elevator has also been known to be inexplicably closed, on occasion
Who/what do the ticket proceeds benefit?
Proceeds go to the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) support organization for all of the Barnsdall Art Park institutions. Your ticket for the event is a contribution towards the continued support of programs, activities, and capital improvements on Olive Hill.
Proceeds from the tours of the Hollyhock House tonight will directly benefit the restoration and preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House.
What is the Hollyhock House and Barnsdall Art Park?
Hollyhock House was built by Frank Lloyd Wright between 1919 and 1921 for the heiress and patron of the arts, Aline Barnsdall. Barnsdall selected this thirty-six acre site, known as Olive Hill, as the site for her home and a thriving arts center.
The Hollyhock House is a National Historic Landmark known as the “Aline Barnsdall Complex.” It is one of the most important architectural treasures in Los Angeles.
In 1927, Aline Barnsdall gave the Hollyhock House and eleven surrounding acres to the City of Los Angeles for use as a public art park. Today, the Barnsdall Art Park consists of: the Municipal Art Gallery and the 300-seat Barnsdall Gallery Theatre (both built in 1971); the Barnsdall Art Center, which offers youth and adult art classes for the community; and the Hollyhock House, an architectural landmark and historic house museum.
How can I get involved in the Barnsdall Art Park Foundation (BAPF)?
